Department of Mathematics conducted one of its signature annual events
“THE MATHEMATICAL MODELING CONTEST -2018 “ on 16/3/18 in Hi-Tech Hall I & II. The UG students of our college participated in the contest with much enthusiasm and 54 teams exhibited their models on the day. The event was a great success with the active participation of students who displayed models in a variety of topics like neural networks, detection of tumours, rotating and suspension bridges, optic illusions, cryptography, torque in gear system etc.
The judges Dr.R.Sujatha , Associate Professor of Mathematics, SSN College of Engineering, Dr.Shakeela Satish , HOD of Mathematics , SRM University , Ramapuram Campus and Dr.V.Antony Arul Raj , Professor , Department of Mechanical Engineering , EEC had a tough time deciding on the winning models. Finally, the model that exhibited the encryption and decryption secrets of cryptography by the first year IT students bagged the first prize. The first year civil students who exhibited the catenary- rotating bridges won the second prize. The third prize was taken by second year mechanical students who revealed the concepts of maths in aerodynamics.Prize Winners
