GUEST LECTURE ON BIOACTIVE GLASS- THE FUTURE OF TISSUE ENGINEERING

The Department of Biomedical Engineering, Easwari Engineering College organized a guest lecture on the topic Bioactive Glass- the Future of Tissue engineering on 6th of April 2023, between 02.00 pm to 03.00 pm at the Hi-tech Hall II. Dr. R. Banuvathy was the staff coordinator of the event and Dr G. Babu, Head of the Department, was the Convenor. Dr.Rajkumar Gurusamy, Professor, Department of Physics, Easwari Engineering College was the chief guest of the session. Ms. M Rithika of 3rd year BME started by hosting the event cheerfully with the welcome address and chief guest’s introduction.
Dr. Rajkumar explained about Bioactive Glass and its properties with his experimental case studies. He clearly explicated how to fabricate these implantable Bioactive Glasses and the role of hydroxyapatite in bone physiology. The overall session turned out to be very interactive and resourceful for the participants. The third-year students who attended the guest lecture also got a clear idea of how to do research in the field of Bioactive Glass fabrication and how to develop a career from the research and development of this domain through patents and entrepreneurship. The event was concluded by Ms. Amshumathi R S of 3rd year BME by delivering the vote of thanks. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Respected Principal sir, HOD sir, and Staff Coordinators of the Biomedical Engineering Department, for supporting and providing the opportunity to organize this event which resounded a grand success.
