Motivational talk on the topic “The Way of Life”

Mr. Lakshman Ravichandran is an IT professional with over 2 decades of experience in the IT and banking industry. He is currently managing the project delivery for a global bank based out of Paris.

Lakshman started his career working for a bank treasury operation at Scope International, the IT division of Standard Chartered bank which fascinated him to aspire and learn more about banking and IT solutions. His next adventure started with the Indian IT conglomerate Tata consultancy services where he was onboarded as a Business Analyst for banking projects with ABN Amro UK, RBC Dexia Canada and CIBC Canada. His stint with TCS enabled him to get an opportunity with the world’s biggest software service provider IBM where he worked 7 years on leading technology practices such as Block Chain, Data analytics and AI.

Apart from his mainstream work, Lakshman is a hardcore social activist and works relentlessly to help the society for various causes. From being a CSR champion at the bank where he works to being Director at a NGO called Vidhyavruksha Foundation he devotes a big chunk of his daily routine to social causes. One of his notable causes was help during the COVID lockdown where he and his 4 best friends from school started a setup in the underground basement of a clothing store to put together a ration kit. The team with the help of many likeminded volunteers were able to distribute this ration kit to 5,00,000 people across three districts – Chennai, Kanchipuram and Chengelpet. Summary of the Event :

The event started with Tamil Thai Valthu.Mrs. Jean Ida Gunaseeli, Department of English introduced the chief guest.

The Chief guest Mr. Lakshman talked about how our lives have changes from generations and what Gen-Z is facing today is truly unperceived notion toward life including various aspects of Stress management, Leadership and discipline.

The following points were discussed in the session:

• Be yourself, everyone else is already taken
• Start from within-Respect others, stop judging, Give them the benefit of doubt.
• We must trust and believe in person, or life becomes impossible.
• Self-Respect and Self Love is important
• Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try one more time.

Dr.S. Kayalvizhi, Professor, Department of Computer Science proposed Vote of thanks. She also explained about ICC Cell of our campus to the students. The program ended with National Anthem. 105 students of I CSE Participated in the event and benefitted by the talk.
