Summary of the Event:
Department of Civil Engineering had conducted guest lecture on “Sustainable Energy and Environment”. Guest is Dr Sachin Vinayak Jangam – Senior Lecturer, Department of chemical and biomolecular Engineering, NUS, Singapore. The guest lecture helped students to know about importance of sustainable development in chemical and civil oriented fields. It gave knowledge on Industrial revolution, Global Energy consumption, global warming impacts , ozone depletion , sustainable indicators , green chemical , SG green plan (Carbon tax) and circular Economy . It helped to understand about measures taken to reduce the carbon emission and energy consumption. It gave additional information on sustainable indicators that is environmental indicator, Economic indicator and social indicator which measures the sustainability of a particular product. It also helped us to understand about the life cycle assessment and its major steps in sustainability. The lecture was very useful and gave us huge knowledge on sustainable development and energy consumption.
