Event Summary

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Cyber Security) at Easwari Engineering College successfully organized an Expert Talk on “Journey to the Cloud: Security Beyond Boundaries” on 07 August 2026 at MBA Seminar Hall–2, 7th Floor. The session was organized with the objective of enhancing students’ understanding of cloud computing, cloud security, emerging technologies, and the evolving security challenges associated with modern cloud environments. The programme also aimed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry practices by providing students with valuable insights from an experienced industry professional.

The session was delivered by Mr. Chandra Mohan Dhanasekaran, Senior Lead Software Engineer, JPMorgan Chase, who served as the resource person for the programme. The session proved to be highly informative, interactive, and insightful, offering students a broader understanding of cloud technologies and the importance of security in cloud-based environments. Mr. Chandra Mohan highlighted the rapid evolution of cloud computing and explained how organizations are increasingly adopting cloud platforms to support their digital transformation initiatives. He also emphasized the growing importance of cybersecurity in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of cloud-based resources.

A major focus of the session was on Cloud Security and its practical implementation in enterprise environments. The resource person provided students with insights into different cloud service models, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS), along with various security considerations associated with each model. He explained real-world cloud security challenges and discussed the importance of implementing appropriate security controls to protect cloud infrastructure, applications, and sensitive data.

The session also covered important cybersecurity concepts such as Identity and Access Management (IAM), data protection, encryption, access control, security monitoring, and secure cloud practices. Through practical examples and industry-oriented scenarios, students gained a better understanding of how organizations identify and address security risks in cloud environments. The resource person also highlighted the significance of following security best practices and maintaining continuous monitoring to protect cloud infrastructure from evolving cyber threats.

Adding further value to the programme, Mr. Chandra Mohan shared valuable insights into industry expectations, emerging trends, technical skills, and career opportunities in Cloud Computing and Cyber Security. He emphasized the importance of developing strong fundamentals, gaining hands-on experience, continuously upgrading technical knowledge, and pursuing relevant certifications to remain competitive in the rapidly evolving technology industry. Students were also encouraged to explore cloud security platforms, practical projects, and industry-relevant learning opportunities.

The interactive question-and-answer session provided students with an opportunity to directly interact with the industry expert and clarify their queries related to cloud technologies, cybersecurity practices, career opportunities, and industry requirements. The discussions helped students gain a practical perspective on the skills and competencies expected by organizations working in cloud and cybersecurity domains.

The Expert Talk successfully created an engaging learning environment that blended academic knowledge, industry experience, and practical cybersecurity awareness. Students actively participated throughout the session and gained valuable insights into the role of cloud security in modern enterprises. The programme significantly enhanced their awareness of emerging cloud technologies, security challenges, industry practices, and career pathways in Cloud Computing and Cyber Security. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Cyber Security) expresses its sincere gratitude to Mr. Chandra Mohan Dhanasekaran for sharing his valuable expertise, professional experience, and practical insights with the students. The department also extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Honourable Chairman and Respected Principal for their continuous encouragement and support in organizing such industry-oriented learning initiatives.
