Industrial Visit

INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO:

TECHNOVATION FEST 23- SCHWING Stetter,

Cheyyar, Kanchipuram

ORGANISED BY:

Department of Civil Engineering, Easwari Engineering College,

Chennai.

3rd March 2023, Friday.

OVERVIEW:

Department of Civil Engineering, Easwari Engineering College organized the industrial visit for I year students of B.E Civil Engineering and M.E Structural Engineering, Principal, HOD of Mechanical Department, HOD of Civil  Department  and 3 Faculty members of Civil Engg.

INTRODUCTION:

The visit was arranged by ICI Chairman Chennai Centre  Er. Muralidharan. The objective of the visit is to visualize and gain more knowledge about the Manufacturing of construction equipment its applications and how it can be implemented in our real-time project. Also they got brief explanation and visit various concrete mixers, Excavators, 3D printers, Drillers, Weigh Bridge and Pile rigs, etc. Students learnt about the basics in Concrete making, mixing, and different applications in various places.

Students can also attend seminar session. Which have the topics about Force distribution in buildings, Pumping of concrete and 3D printing by Dr.Prakash, professor from IIT Bombay. The presentation has started with analogy and compared concreting pump with pumping of heart and explained connection between the pumping. Then he explained how the pumping works with a new mechanism with piston and how it works with pressure. 1st project is about the largest pumped of concrete was done in India at Sainj hydroelectric power project (Himachal Pradesh) for 4 km. Materials. Engineering the material properties is the main key for pumping concrete which decides the final setting time and temperature inside and outside the tunnel. Factors affecting concrete pumping. Material properties related to pump ability, flow parameters can be determined using rheometer and slump cone test. Another important parameter is Segregation resistance which can be determined by using pressurized bleeding test, Segregation cylinder test. In rheology the main parameters are yield stress and plastic viscosity. Lubrication of pipes rather than external lubrication the concrete itself acts as a lubricant.

Faculty and students visited the factory and saw the concrete mixing equipment which are manufactured and executed and the exhibition of concrete mixing machines which was very interesting and informative.

Feedback from Students:

J.JOHN IMMANUEL I yr B.E

It was a very helpful and an informative trip. Learning about the machineries used by Civil engineers was very helpful. The 3D printing machine using concrete was new to us and was interesting to learn about it, they even demonstrated the working of the printer .We hope that there will be more interesting industrial visits like this.

POOJA. T I yr B.E

This was a very new experience for me and all of the other students. It’s really a new exposure for us to look at all the instruments, machines, in real life. I got so many ideas about every step our guide thought us and understood when and where these machines are used. I am very grateful to the faculties who took all the efforts and made these arrangements for us. I thank our HOD, and other staff, for this new experience. It was very educational trip indeed.

R.LASHMI PRIYA I yr M.E

The industrial visit is very helpful for us in gaining more knowledge about manufacturing construction equipment, Pumping of Concrete and 3D Printing of Concrete.

OUTCOME OF THE VISIT:

  1. As a part of Industry Institute Interaction, Theory and Practices session is arranged for Civil Engineering Students “CASE STUDY PRESENTATION ON PUMPING OF CONCRETE”  by
