The Department of Civil Engineering was established in the academic year 2007 – 08 with affiliation of Anna University, Chennai and UG Civil Engineering was started with an annual intake of 60 students. PG Structural Engineering was started in the year of 2013-14 with the intake of 18 students. In the ongoing Outcome Based Education (OBE) process, the curriculum has been framed to provide needful scope for the learners through the CBCS after the autonomous status from the year 2019-20.
Since inception, the Department of Civil Engineering has been imparting knowledge in ‘General Engineering concepts’ and ‘studies’ in ‘Civil Engineering’. With the concurrent acquisition of technical skills in labs, freedom in choosing elective courses, industry oriented courses and internships engaged the students intellectually. Inspiration and awakening of the young minds through practicing and industry connected Civil Engineers as vibrant teachers. These critical contributions lead the students to explore and discover the wonders of their minds, which in turn synergize together and enable the students transform themselves to become true engineers and technologists. The program is accredited by NBA since 2017 and accreditation extended till the year 2023.
To provide basic and advanced knowledge and skills among civil engineering students so as to meet the changing industrial and research needs to become the acknowledged leader in civil engineering.
M1 - To provide education in the field of civil engineering and guide them towards technical advancement
M2 - To impart essential skills to the students and enhance their employable potential and entrepreneurial capabilities
M3 - To educate the student in solving problems related to interdisciplinary fields
M4 - To nurture leadership skills with social consciousness to act professionally and ethically
M5 - To Extend engineering knowledge through creative, innovative projects and research so as to promote consultancy for industrial and social needs.
M6 - To use modern engineering tools and appropriate teaching techniques for modeling, analyzing and designing the real world problems
PSO1: Able to apply the engineering fundamentals to analyze and design the various structural components.
PSO2: Able to cater to the changing industrial needs and capable of developing green concept for different applications.
PSO3: Able to understand the necessity of Civil Engineering solutions in an economical, Environmental and societal context.
PEO1:Our graduates will have fundamental technical knowledge in their domain and contribute to the development of various disciplines of civil engineering such as Structural Engineering, Construction management, Environmental Engineering by continuous education.
PEO2:Our graduates will apply the fundamentals of Science (Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry) in Engineering and capable of teaming with multi disciplinary professionals to analyze, design and execute projects in the field for the solution of emerging technical problems
PEO3:Our graduates will exhibit effective communication, leadership, problem solving, and decision making skills by understanding contemporary issues and contribute to overall personality and career development.
PEO4:Our graduates will be proficient in academics and a segment of our graduates will pursue higher studies, and involve in research and development in the various branches of civil engineering.
PEO5:Our graduates shall ensure sustainable development through lifelong learning and be socially responsible
